The five special characters

Any value — this position doesn't constrain anything
,
A list: 1,3,5 means exactly those three
-
A range: 1-5 means every value from 1 through 5
/
A step: */5 means every 5th unit, starting at 0
L
Last — in the day field, the last day of the month
